Clinical Development in Rare Diseases (02): Graft versus Host Disease (GvHD)
In the second article of the four part series, you can read and find more information about the rare immune reaction, Graft versus Host Disease (GvHD).
“Graft versus Host Disease (GvHD) is a generalized immune system reaction following
allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (AHSCT) in patients with acquired and congenital hematopoietic system disorders (e.g. lymphoid malignancies, dismyelopoietic syndrome, bone marrow aplasia, etc.) 1 . GvHD is considered to affect approximately 0.5 in 10,000 people in the European Union (with a prevalence of around 26,000) and thereby designated among
rare diseases 2 .”
