“Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a rare disease, which affects approximately 15 in each 100,000 people in the EU (which is equivalent to an average of 76,000 inhabitants 9); with a prevalence of 38.82 per 100,000 people in the UK (2012)10 and 42,7 per 100,000 in the US (2006)11, both per the broader epidemiologic definition. Notably, its incidence has significantly increased in the third millenium in UK 12,13.”
